And so it ends…

In 30 short minutes the puck will drop in Vancouver, and what is surely to be a finals for the ages will begin. I’m simply too excited to write any sort of an introduction, let’s get this started!!!

Conference Finals Predictions

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

“Whoa!!! We’re half-way there!!!”

And the Sharks, Canucks, Bruins, and Lightning are all livin’ on a prayer.  The four teams are eight short wins away from hoisting the Cup in a few weeks.  All four possibilities for the finals are very interesting.  After all, we could have a chance for Vancouver to avenge Calgary’s loss from seven years ago, Thornton vs. the Bruins, an EA Sports Simulated Vancouver-Boston finals, or the first all Sun Belt showdown.  But before we get there, we’ve got some interesting hockey to witness.

2nd Round Playoff Predictions

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

After one of the most memorable and interesting 1st rounds in recent memory, we are now ready to move on.  In many ways the first round was a bit of a Bizzaro World for the hockey world. The Best Team in the League goes out to a 3-0 series lead, and somehow becomes the underdog, Nashville makes the second round, Boston beats Montreal, and the two most clutch teams are San Jose and Washington.  Really, Detroit beating Phoenix and Philly having goaltending troubles are the only things that seem “right”.

In the past two years the 2nd Round have featured the Crosby-Ovechkin showdown, and the Greatest Collapse in Sporting History.  Hopefully this year can live up to that kind of billing.

Apologies for the delay, but I was in holidays in Bali and Troy was moving to Afghanistan. Yeah you read that right.

…and with Pick number 23 Troy takes…

Predicting 2011

Monday, January 10th, 2011

This year is a mere 10 days old, but already a great deal has happened, from the Collapse of the Canadian Juniors, a Wild Wildcard Weekend, fears of an election in Canada, a referendum to change the map, and of course an assassination attempt.

What else will this year bring? Well allow me to check my Crystal Ball…

2010-11 Predictacular: Western Conference

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Well it’s time to go to the left side, where things are always interesting.  Last year this team had the two biggest surprises (Colorado and Phoenix), the biggest bust (Calgary), the biggest playoff collapse (San Jose, but really, what else is new?), and the Stanley Cup Champion.  Now this year, the champs have been retooled, last years surprises look to prove themselves, and of course the Red Wings look to reclaim their spot as top dog.  Add in the fact that the San Jose Sharks are sure to collapse in a new and exciting way, and we’ve got ourselves a very interesting few months ahead in the West.

And it should go something like this…

2010-11 Predictacular: Individual Awards

Friday, October 8th, 2010

It’s the most wonderful time of the year ladies and gentlemen!!!  That’s right, the NHL season is just underway! I’ve been like a kid in some kind of a store recently, getting so incredibly excited.  In the coming days I’ll be posting my predictions for the season, starting today with a look at the major NHL awards.  This is mostly so I can look back months later and claim to be right in the unlikely event that I’m right (note: if following that link, only look at who the Eastern Conference Champion is predicted to be, nothing else).

So if I’ve linked back to this in the future, then congratulate me on being right, if there are no incoming links to this, then never speak of this again.

Deal or No Deal: NHL Off-Season Edition

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

For all of the talk and rumours going around about big name trades this off-season, there really hasn’t been that much.  Sure Nathan Horton, Jaroslav Halak, and Jason Arnott were traded, but after that there hasn’t really been all that much to be honest.  I think that in the coming days this will change.  The key figure holding everything up right now is Ilya Kovalchuk.  The Kings and Devils are actively pursuing him, with rumblings of the Islanders, Flyers, and Rangers having interest.  After he gets signed, I think that a number of dominoes will start falling and some potentially big names will be on the move.

Let’s have a look at the big names that are in all of the rumours…

3rd Round Playoff Predictions

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Welcome back to our Predictacular, just when we thought things couldn’t be any crazier after the first round, things get even crazier.  The 8th seed Habs rock the defending Stanley Cup Champion, the fourth 3-0 comeback in North American Professional Sports takes place, the Sharks find a way to not choke, and the Hawks rally from losing 5-1 at home.  These are a host of things that would have been difficult to predict, but we’ll try our best here…
