Quick Predictions for the Rest of the Olympics

Alright, so I thought about doing this for the whole tournament, but my computer broke and I was in Malaysia, and yadd-yadda-yadda.  Anyway, I know few of you will believe me, but I thought that Slovakia would make some noise.  I certainly didn’t see them outlasting Russia in a shootout, but I thought that they would do better than projected.

Tonight for all of you in North America, or tomorrow for me, is the real start of the tournament.  The three marquee matches are underway, followed by the qualifying round, and then it gets really interesting.  Everyone is trying to make some predictions, so here are mine…

Shades of Wrestlemania – 5 Weeks in Advance

Well after 5 previous attempts to predict the card for the showcase of the Immortals I’m going to lay  it on the line one final time. After Edge’s shocking return at the Royal Rumble the Wrestlemania card really is up in the air at the moment.  Some things seem to be taking shape, but as we witnessed last year, things can change around at the last minute.

Shades of Wrestlemania – 2 months in Advance

Well ’tis the season, as it continues to be.  And my nerdy-80s child fanboy heart is starting to run wild.  In two days it will be the Royal Rumble, and then two months from then it’ll be the Granddaddy of them all, Wrestlemania XXVI!  In keeping with my usual tradition, I’m going to try to predict the card for the big show.

There have a been a huge amount of speculation as to what the card will be, much earlier that usual this year.  A lot of talk about HBK-Taker, Cena-Taker, Hart-Vince, and a whole host of other big matches that could take place.  In two days the road map will start to be drawn, and I think it’ll go as follows…

Looking Back at My Crystal Ball

Back in January I made some “surefire” predictions for 2009. some of which came true, some of which did not.

I’ve had a good tradition of predicting things before on this blog, back in 2007 I went 9-2-2 in my guesses, while last year I went 9-3-1.  Could I follow it up with 2009?  Let’s see..

Shades of Wrestlemania — 4 Months in Advance

With WWE Survivor Series in the books, it is about time to start getting geared up for the biggest event on every wrestling fans calender, Wrestlemania!  Already the seeds for some of the biggest matches have been sowed, and it will be interesting to see where things go from here.

Glen and Troy’s Quarter Season Predictacular – Western Conference

Today Troy and I continue our look forward to the rest of the NHL Season. Yesterday we looked at the East, today we will look at the conference that is full of surprises. Early season favourites like Detroit and Vancouver are struggling will basement dwellers Phoenix, Colorado, and Los Angeles are soaring. Will these trends continue? Glen and Troy’s Quarter Season Predictacular – Eastern Conference

Well the season is just over 20 games old and things are starting to get interesting.  In keeping with a very rarely followed tradition, my hetero-life mate Troy and I are going to try and lay it on line and see where each team will be at the end of 82 games.  Because of the sheer volume of writing we did I decided to split this post in two.  We’ll look at the boring Conference first today.

Journey to Gold – Edition III

They have finally named a day.  On the last day of 2009, Team Canada will be officially revealed.  There has been a lot of speculation, and there will continue to be a lot more as time goes on.   Now that the season is 15 or so games in, there has been some movement up and down on the depth charts.  Especialyl as foremer locks like Getzlaf and LeCavalier have struggled, while former long shots like Marleau and Stamkos have excelled.   As I have a few times already, I’m going to try and break down the potential team and give my thoughts on who should wear the red and white come February.

NHL Pre-Season Predictacular

Well, it’s nearly that time of the year, when I feel the need to put it all on the line and make a series of predictions for the upcoming NHL Season. After a very busy off-season it seems like there are a lot of interesting questions to start the season out.

Can the Penguins repeat? Will Crosby, Ovechkin, or Malkin win the scoring title? Can the Wings go deep in the playoffs? Who will make the Olympic teams? Who will own the Coyotes?

I certainly don’t feel like I can answer too many of those questions, but I can make some educated guesses as to where the teams will place in the standings. These are of course guaren-damn-teed*
