Shades of Wrestlemania – 7 Months in Advance

Well it’s been a while since I have done this.  With Money in the Bank all over and Summerslam just around the corner.  It is as good of a time as any to make some guesses for the really big show that will be coming our way in March.  I have a feeling it will be a good one.  And it may just look like this…

As always, matches are in the order that I think they should happen…

Intercontinental Title Match
Kaval (c ) vs. Mysterio

This may seem like a bit of a strange match to open things up, but I think it’s a fitting. Apparently the original plan was for Kaval to debut and feud with Mysterio back at the beginning of 2010, but it didn’t happen for whatever reason. Since it seems like Rey tend to get what he wants (a long IC Title Run, dropping it to Morrison instead of Ziggler, a Mania feud with Punk, and a World Title Match), this may be what he wants. You may as well add the IC Title to the mix to keep things interesting. It should be a good match to get the crowd going.

Unified Tag Team Title Match
Straight Edge Society (c ) vs. Hart Dynasty
vs. John Morrison and Eli Cottonwood vs R-Truth and Kofi Kingston

This is the first of the two “let’s get everyone on the card” matches that seems necessary now that Money in the Bank has gone on to become it’s own event. I don’t see the Harts holding the titles for much longer, and actually wouldn’t be surprised if they drop it to two members of The Nexus actually. I’d love to see the Straight Edge Society get the belts to run roughshod over both rosters before issuing an open challenge of sorts to take on teams from any brand. I’m not necessarily sold on the other two teams in this match, but I couldn’t find anywhere else for either of them. Although, I do love the idea of Morrison and Cottonwood teaming up in an HBK and Diesel type of way, and this is a good chance of giving them the spotlight.

Interpromotional Challenge
Edge vs. Christian

This may be wishful thinking, but I sincerely hope that we see these two have a long, drawn out feud. This would be extra amazing if we end with a big Mania match between these two. I have a feeling that we may get this on a lesser event, but I would love to see it happen at the Grand Daddy of Them All.

7 On 7 All on The Line Match
The Nexus vs. Team WWE
(Bryan Danielson/Matt Hardy/Cody Rhodes/The Big Show/Kane/Evan Bourne/Dolph Ziggler)

I’m really hoping that the angle with The Nexus sticks around until March. It certainly has potential for a lot of twists and turns. I am certain that Bryan Danielson aka Daniel Bryan will be back long before Wrestlemania (especially after Linda McMahon loses her bid for the Senate in November). I have visions of him leading a big charge against The Nexus to captain this team. I imagine there being a huge stipulation like “If Nexus loses they must disband, if they win then they get something good”. Obviously, Danielson will lead his team to victory in dramatic fashion.  This would also give the WWE a chance to cut the members of The Nexus that don’t have much of a future (Tarver, Young) and give the ones that need some time on their own (Gabriel, Slater) a chance that they may need.

All for One Mixed Tag Team Match
Dibiase (United States Champion) and Maryse (Diva’s Champion) vs. McGuillicuty and Melina

A good way to get some women on the card and to get some other good young names in on the action. I like the idea of Dibiase and Maryse running wild like Glameralla did a few years ago, but hopefully they can stay around for longer than they did. I like the idea of getting Michael McGuillicuty in on the action, he seems to have a great deal of talent, and would match up with Dibiase well I think.

Return Match
Jack Swagger vs. Bill Goldberg

There were rumblings of ol’ Billy Boy coming back for a bit match in Atlanta for Wrestlemania 27. There are all sorts of huge opponents that could work, but I think that it would be best if they gave a young guy a shot in a match with Goldberg. Swagger would be great at running his mouth and mocking Goldberg in the buildup only to get his comeuppance when it matters.

WWE Title Match
The Miz (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho

I hope that The Miz holds that briefcase for a long, long time. I really hope that he copies Edge and cashes it in after the Elimination Chamber match. I see Orton holding gold for a while, so perhaps we can have Jericho beat him in the Chamber Match, only to have The Miz cash in on Jericho, setting up the Triple Threat Match for the big event.

One Night Only
Drew McIntyre and Sheamus vs. D-X

I am not sold on HBK staying in retirement forever. This seems like as good a time as any to get him to come back. I’m convinced that Sheamus and McIntyre would make a great power team a la JeriShow. They’d obviously get to have some problems with Triple H only to have Shawn come back to make the rescue to give them one last hoorah together.

World Title Match
The Undertaker (c) vs. John Cena

I have no earthly idea as to when The Undertaker can make his return, but hopefully its in the near(ish) future. I don’t know how exactly he’s going to get the Title, but hey, he’s The Undertaker. I really want to see John Cena win the Rumble and issue the challenge to The Deadman to give us a match for the ages and a major Wrestlemania moment.

So let’s see how right this one is in the coming months…

Until next time,

G
