Well here we are a few weeks after the Granddaddy of them all, with only a year left until the next one! On April 3, 2011 the Biggest Wrestling Show of the Year originates from the one place that I never thought it would, Atlanta Georgia.
And I think that the card will looking something like this…
Pre-Show Battle Royal:
Matt Hardy wins a 27 Man Battle Royal
Only because he’s the biggest name that I don’t have a spot for. Well done Matthew…
America the Beautiful, fireworks, Michael Cole screeches like a girl
US Title Scramble Match
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Rey Mysterio vs. MVP vs. Kane vs. Christian
With Money in the Bank getting its own pay-per-view it is necessary to have a few “get the boys on the card” match, and this is one of them. I think that a mid-card Scramble match could be a lot of fun and fresh, as they have only done Scramble matches twice before. Also, if one thing is going to come out of NXT it will be a Daniel Bryan US Title reign. Hopefully he gets to keep it for a while and is given a chacne to be a big player. These names could help make him look like an absolute beast.
Giant Show Down
Ezekiel Jackson vs. The Big Show
Yeah this match wouldn’t be pretty, but it could be perversely entertaining if nothing else. Jackson is someone that they seem to have something invested in, after they made him the final ECW Champion. A big showdown with uhh…the Big Show would be a good way to establish him as the New Monster on the Block.
TLC Match for the Unifed Tag Team Titles
Sheamus and Drew McIntyre(c) vs. The Hart Dynasty
vs. The Straight Edge Society vs. Kofi Kingston and R-Truth
While this match may seem a bit random, and in many ways it kind of is, I think it could have some intrigue to it. I am not sure where else to put the two Celtic Warriors, other than in a team with each other. The Harts also seem like they are in for a push, and may even be our next Unified Tag Team Champions, so this could be a great place to have them try to reclaim it (I think that they will lose it to the Europeans). Also, the Straight Edge Society (Punk and Gallows) and Kingston and R-Truth could add some great dimensions to this match. This match features 4 monsters and 4 little guys, which could make for a pretty interesting dynamic in the TLC setting. Also, just because the Money in the Bank is done, it doesn’t mean that Ladder matches at Wrestlemania need to be a thing of the past.
Million Dollar Title Match
Chris Jericho (c) vs. Ted Dibiase Jr.
Yeah, I know that this is possibly an even more random match, but I think it could be awesome. Dibiase seems to be trying to channel the spirit of his father, defending the Million Dollar Belt. How great would it be for Jericho to somehow steal it from him (like in a Triple Threat Match) and celebrate like he won the Superbowl, and add it to his very long list of accomplishments. Also, the Dibiase’s are in a bit of a feud right now, and it would be great for Senior to come down and help his son reclaim it and get reunited in a great Wrestlemania moment.
No Disqualification Match
Randy Orton vs. Jack Swagger
I know that these two had a match on Raw this week, but I think that they will be kept separate for a while. These two are going to be big corner stones for the company for a while, and Orton is getting over as a great face while Swagger is developing into a big time heel. Why not let them settle their big score on such a big stage? Also, I didn’t have much else to do with either of them.
Revenge Match
John Morrison vs. Triple H w/Shawn Michaels
One of the saddest parts of HBK’s retirement is that I never got to see him and John Morrison go one-on-one. Morrison just oozes HBK to me. I would love to see him really start to take on that role as the cocky, arrogant heel that he can be. This would obviously irk both Triple H and Shawn Michaels himself, leading to this big match. Sure JoMo would stare at the lights in this one, but it would be fun, plus the usual DX nostalgia in there too.
World Title Match
Edge (c) vs. The Miz
You know how I keep talking about this summer’s Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View? Well here is the perfect way to use it. Have The Miz win it, and say that he will cash it in at Wrestlemania, and spend the next several months talking about it. You know, like their plan was for Kennedy, but to actually have it work. I toyed a lot with different people for him to cash it in on, including Triple H, Randy Orton, and John Cena, but there is one person who has been involved in every Money in the Bank Cash in, and really why should this be different? A showdown between the two over who is “Mr. Money in the Bank” would be great for the promos if nothing else.
One More Match
Bastista vs. Bill Godlberg
I never thought we would see this match, but there have been recent grumblings of “Da Man” going into the Hall of Fame and having one more match at the Georgia Dome. There are lots of people who would make great opponents for him in a dream match, but I think that Big Dave is the best choice. Plus, you know that Godlberg would need to win to agree to anything, and Batista would be fine in a loss.
WWE Title Match
John Cena (c) vs. The Undertaker
Make no mistake about it, this is the biggest match that the company has left. These two men are legends who excel on the big stage. This would be the match that puts the streak in the most jeopardy since Orton at Wrestlemania 21. To make this even more amazing, Cena should not drop the title between now and this match, so he can have a year long streak of his own.
I guess we’ll have to wait until next April to see if this works or not…
Until next time,
G
